Provider to deploy new PoPs in Indonesia.

Indonesia's Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) is tapping content delivery network (CDN) provider Edgio to improve streaming services and internet connectivity for customers.

IOH’s chief digital officer Sanjeev Rawat said the company is aiming to deliver enhanced digital experiences with Edgio's low latency CDN, which has over 300 global points of presence (PoPs) and a global capacity of more than 250 Tbps.

“IOH users will not only be able to enjoy their content with minimal interruptions at the highest quality but also securely,” he said.

Edgio intends to create new PoPs in three of its data centres located at Jakarta, Surabaya, and Medan.

CDNs play an important role for the internet, since speed of access to content is a determinant of customer satisfaction.

IOH anticipates benefits for cellular and fixed-line customers, as well as for content owners.
