Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited (Dr. Reddy’s), a leading multinational pharmaceutical company based out of India, has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as cloud provider to accelerate the development of new healthcare applications, grow the digital platform, and enable healthcare providers to track the progress of patients better.
The firm has migrated its SAP platform entirely to the AWS cloud.
Using AWS, the company hopes to “reduce application development time” by 30 percent, improve internal operations, accelerate improvements in generic drug manufacturing processes, and drive new areas of innovation.
Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories’ chief information and digital officer, Mukesh Rathi, said working with AWS enables the firm to provide affordable healthcare to patients in nearly 70 countries.
The reliability of AWS helps accelerate the delivery of high-quality digital products and allows to transform customer service, he added.
According to Dr. Reddy’s, it has been progressively creating and migrating digital applications to AWS since 2019 to automate the company’s IT infrastructure.
Dr. Reddy’s Lab’s CEO of branded markets, India & emerging markets, M V Ramana, said the firm has entered into a collaboration with AWS to build innovative go-to-market models to help fuel long-term growth.
The company runs a data centre and disaster recovery workloads from AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region and the AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) Region.
This enables Dr. Reddy’s to ensure the continuity of its services by running applications across multiple highly available data centres in India.
Last year, AWS launched second infrastructure region in India - the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region and announced to spend an estimated US$4.4 billion (S$6.07 billion) in India by 2030 through the region.
