Moratelindo modernises optical network

Prepares to launch network-as-a-service.

PT Mora Telematika Indonesia (Moratelindo) has upgraded its optical transport network with Nokia technology to boost the available capacity.

The upgrade has increased network capacity in Jakarta and Java Island, and allowed Moratelindo to launch a "network-as-a-service" offering.

Moratelindo’s chief technology officer Michael McPhail said Nokia’s optical transport technology, coupled with the vendor's Photonic Service Engine V (PSE-V) solution, enabled the upgrade to be cost-effective.

“The modernisation of the optical network will enable us to increase capacity per [traffic] module while bringing down the cost,” he said.

Moratelindo will be using Nokia’s optical transport solution to integrate their existing network with the latest version of traffic modules, to save capital expenditure and increase the life of the installed infrastructure.

Further, it will help Moratelindo minimise its footprint while addressing growing capacity requirements.

The deployment was completed in June this year.
