Singtel has landed Pei Yuen Wong as its new group CISO and vice president of cyber resilience.
Pei announced his appointment in a brief LinkedIn post, which iTnews Asia confirmed with a Singtel spokesperson.
His appointment appears to be a direct replacement for PB Ong, who had held the same role up until August this year.
Ong has since left Singtel and is now with global investment manager BlackRock, according to his LinkedIn.
Pei joins Singtel from IBM Security, where he was CTO for ‘ASEANZK’, a grouping of countries that IBM created earlier this year.
However, his past experience is largely with the Monetary Authority of Singapore, where he spent over 15 years in a series of executive roles, including as its CISO.
It’s not clear if Singtel had someone acting in the group CISO role while a permanent replacement was being sought.
