Singapore public healthcare websites restored after seven-hour outage

The access to websites of all significant Singapore public hospitals, polyclinics and healthcare clusters was restored at about 4.30 pm on Wednesday, nearly seven hours after they went offline earlier in the day at around 9.20 am.

Singapore’s health tech agency Synapxe blamed “internet access disruption” for the incident.

Services requiring internet connectivity at public healthcare institutions, including websites, emails, and a few internet-facing applications, became inaccessible yesterday morning after the outage started.

In an update at 11 pm on Wednesday, Synapxe said there is no evidence to suggest data and internal networks have been compromised.

Investigations into the outage are ongoing and the situation is being closely monitored, it added.

Synapxe, whose website supports the operations of 46 public healthcare institutions including acute hospitals and polyclinics, and around 1,400 community partners, was down temporarily yesterday.

Hospitals including Singapore General Hospital, National University Hospital, the Alexandra, Tan Tock Seng, and Khoo Teck Puat hospitals, along with the websites of all three public healthcare clusters were also down.

The Ministry of Health, HealthHub, and private hospital websites were unaffected.

Clinical services and operations including access to patient records and appointment systems, remained accessible and unaffected throughout the disruption, and patient care was not compromised.
