Malaysia's biggest Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) issuer AHAM Asset Management Berhad (AHAM Capital) is driving improved customer experiences with Snowflake.

Founded in 2001, the company has more than 200 products to support its 250,000 clients in building wealth and achieving financial goals.

AHAM Capital's chief technology officer Allen Woo said at the recent AWS ASEAN summit that the firm has now "revolutionised" its data strategy to improve customer experience.

Prior to Snowflake, the investment management firm suffered several challenges with its on-premise solution. The siloed data prevented aggregated analysis to be complete and there was no "easy" way to share data across the organisation, he said.

AHAM Capital was looking for a data cloud strategy that would help them understand customers' preferences, risk profiles, investment objectives, long-term and short-term goals and so on to build customer relationships.

It migrated to Snowflake's cloud data platform that can support multiple data workloads, from Data Warehousing and Data Lake to Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Application development across multiple cloud providers and regions from anywhere in the organisation, Woo said.

As the firm achieved data integration and aggregation with different sources using Snowflake Data Cloud, Woo added that its elastic infrastructure allowed the firm to "reduce" processing time from 12-14 hours to near real-time.

"We could now predict customer needs and requirements, thus enabling faster transactions," he added.

Aham Capital is also planning to harmonise unstructured and semi-structured data into the Snowflake Cloud.

Woo said, the company is currently in the nascent stage of transformation with Snowflake and is looking forward to exploring more services and "readily" consuming third-party market data for private equity.

"We will soon build a self-service analytics platform for all internal users," he said.
