Equinix has inaugurated its first International Business Exchange (IBX) data centre, named JK1, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Located in Jakarta’s Central Business District, the eight-story facility offers 550 cabinets in the first phase.

At full capacity, it will scale up to 1,600 cabinets with 5,300 square meters of colocation space.

It will provide access to over 50 global and local network service providers and internet exchanges to help businesses expand.

The facility is built in a joint venture with PT Astra International Tbk (Astra).

The facility will provide interconnection services, including Equinix Fabric and Equinix Internet Access.

JK1 uses cooling array and liquid cooling technology for heat management.

It is designed to achieve an average power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.41 at full load.

In Asia-Pacific, Equinix currently operates 60 data centres in 16 key metros across Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore.

The company also announced its market entry into the Philippines and Thailand last year.
