Infosys has committed to hire 300 people, from graduates through to established technology professionals, in Singapore over the next three years.
The IT services provider, together with Infosys Compaz (iCompaz), a joint venture between Infosys Limited and Temasek Holdings, will make the hires as part of participation in Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA's) TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA) company-led training (CLT) program.
This is a government programme that “aims to accelerate professional development for fresh and mid-career professionals through on-the-job training that is aligned to the Skills Framework for ICT,” according to IMDA.
“The plan to hire 300 locals in Singapore reinforces our commitment to our localisation strategy, at a global level,” Infosys executive vice president Shaji Mathew said in a statement.
“We look forward to strengthening our presence in Singapore, in pace with the digital transformation journeys of our clients."
IMDA’s deputy chief executive Kiren Kumar, thanked Infosys “for the strong partnership and commitment to hire and train Singaporeans for in-demand technology roles including cyber security, software and cloud engineering.”
“Digitalisation is accelerating across the economy with an increasing demand for emerging technology roles,” Kumar said.
“Our Tech Skills Accelerator (TeSA) program aims to work closely with industry leaders to provide on-the-job training to meet the skills needs across our ecosystem."
