ESR is developing its first data centre in South Korea through a partnership with Seoul-based Wide Creek Asset Management.

The companies will build an 80 MW facility known as KR1 in Incheon’s Bupyeong district.

The construction will begin this week.

KR1 will be a nine-storey data centre and is expected to be operational in 2028.

The facility will be leased to Princeton Digital Group, which will oversee the internal fit-out and manage operations.

ESR is the development manager for the project and designed the overall facility, while ESR and Wide Creek AMC will jointly undertake core and shell construction.

The developers said the location in Incheon offers proximity to Seoul’s technology corridor, strong fibre connectivity, and access to stable power infrastructure.

The area is also home to the Songdo International Business District, a major smart-city development.

The facility will incorporate features, including building-integrated photovoltaics and fuel cells.

KR1 forms part of ESR's over 3.2 GW pipeline of secured land and power across APAC to deliver data centre solutions to capital partners and customers.

This will enable the company to harness the region’s accelerating digital growth and rising demand for scalable, high-performance infrastructure.
