Digital Realty has announced the closing of its tie-up with BAM Digital Realty – its Indian joint venture with Brookfield Infrastructure and its institutional partners.

This 50/50 joint venture enabling the development and acquisition of connected data communities in India has now received all requisite regulatory approvals. The joint venture was first announced in July 2014.

The expansion across India was aimed at supporting the needs of global hyper scale service providers as well as international and local enterprises in the country.

In addition, Seema Ambastha has been appointed CEO of the joint venture. Ambastha joins BAM Digital Realty from NTT Netmagic where she held the position of Senior Executive Vice President, India Sales and Solution Engineering.

“Ambastha brings over 20 years of strong business leadership skills across various roles in the industry, said Mark Smith, Managing Director, APAC for Digital Realty. “With a population of over 1.4 billion, India is the world’s fifth-largest economy in terms of GDP, with a rapidly emerging data centre market and accelerating adoption of digital business models.”

To support the expected rapid growth opportunity for data centres in India, BAM Digital Realty has also recently filled multiple senior leadership positions, in the fields of Design & Construction as well as Business Development.
