Digital Edge has announced that Group President John Freeman will take over as chief executive officer in the second quarter of 2025.

Freeman will succeed Samuel Lee, who will transition to senior advisor to the board.

Freeman, a founding executive of Digital Edge, has over 25 years of experience in the data center and TMT industries.

He previously served as chief legal and compliance officer before becoming group president in 2024.

Commenting on his appointment, Freeman said, “I am honoured to step into the role of CEO and excited about the opportunity to continue working alongside our partners and the incredibly talented team at Digital Edge.”

Digital Edge also announced the appointment of Maile Kaiser and Eanna Murphy as non-executive directors.

Kaiser is currently the chief revenue officer at CoreSite, while Murphy is a senior operating partner at Stonepeak and formerly held leadership roles at Yondr and Google.

The leadership transition comes as Digital Edge continues to expand, recently securing $1.6 billion in new capital to fuel its growth across Asia.

The company currently operates 21 data centers with 500MW of critical IT load in service and under construction across Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
