Digital Edge (Singapore) has announced the availability of a second facility in downtown Jakarta, known as EDGE2.

It will be operated by PT Ekagrata Data Gemilang - a subsidiary of PT Indointernet Tbk and a Digital Edge company.

According to Digital Edge, the new facility is the largest data centre in the metro area with an IT load of 23 MW and over 3,400 racks.

It will cater to the demand from hyperscale and artificial intelligence (AI) deployments and provide reliable and secure IT infrastructure for hyperscalers, global tech companies, and digital enterprises in Indonesia, it added.

Digital Edge’s CEO Samuel Lee said the company is excited by the growth opportunities in Indonesia and the facility expands its presence across South East Asia.

EDGE2 offers connectivity options, including access through a virtual campus to over 50 network carriers and several Internet Exchanges located at EDGE1.

It has four diverse main points of entry into the facility to support interconnectivity and redundancy.

The new facility aligns with the company's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments by incorporating eco-friendly features including renewable energy solutions and green building features.

Digital Edge said the facility incorporates liquid cooling technology helping cater to high power density deployments while achieving an annualised Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.24.

This makes it the most energy-efficient data centre in the Jakarta metro area, the company added.
