Databricks has appointed Simon Davies as Senior Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ), as the company accelerates its expansion.
Based in Singapore, Simon will oversee Databricks’ operations, strategy and growth across key APJ markets including ASEAN, India, Australia & New Zealand, Japan, Korea and Greater China.
The appointment comes as organisations across Asia-Pacific continue to increase investments in AI, data platforms and cloud transformation initiatives. Databricks said its APJ business recorded more than 85% year-over-year growth during its fourth quarter, highlighting strong regional demand for enterprise AI and analytics capabilities.
As part of its regional expansion strategy, Databricks also announced plans to move into its new Singapore headquarters at IOI Central Boulevard Towers later this year, quadrupling its current footprint. The company now employs more than 1,500 people across APJ.
Databricks has been expanding its customer base across industries including financial services, telecommunications and the public sector. New regional customers include Singapore Customs, Samsung Life Insurance and SingTel, joining existing enterprise users such as Atlassian, LG Electronics, National Australia Bank and Toyota.
Simon brings more than 30 years of experience across enterprise technology, cloud and data services. Prior to joining Databricks, he served as Regional President for Asia Pacific at SAP, where he led regional strategy, operations, sales and partner growth.
Simon said APJ represents one of the world’s most advanced regions for digital transformation and AI adoption.
Databricks added that its expanding regional footprint will support the in-region delivery of new data and AI technologies, including Lakebase, its serverless Postgres database designed for AI agents, and Genie, an AI agent platform that enables employees to interact with enterprise data using natural language queries.
