Vietnam tech giant FPT has partnered Nvidia to build AI factory with U$200 million ($271 million) investment. It aims to expand AI research and development in the region, enhancing advanced AI and cloud capabilities on a global scale.

FPT said the new factory will serve as a sovereign cloud, featuring Nvidia latest technologies, including Nvidia AI Enterprise software and frameworks and NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs.

It will also provide cloud GPU services to accompany FPT's corporate customers globally to access core resources to improve research capacity, accelerate the speed of AI applications, improving productivity and customer experience.

FPT said the new initiative is a critical part of its strategy in reinforcing AI research and development, creating AI applications and solutions with a focus on generative AI, autonomous driving, and green transformation for sustainability.

It hopes this integration will enhance its AI Labs while introducing new software frameworks.

With priority to three key verticals including automotive, manufacturing, banking, financial services, and insurance, FPT aims to offer end-to-end generative AI services.

FPT Corporation chairman Dr Truong Gia Binh said this collaboration empowers the company to realise the vision of transforming Vietnam into an AI nation and accelerating the adoption of AI applications in Asia, but not limited to, Vietnam, Japan, and Korea.

He added that FPT will further work with NVIDIA on opportunities to develop cloud gaming with NVIDIA GeForce NOW in Vietnam.
