Singapore-based carsharing provider GetGo has consolidated its observability and security operations as it prepares to expand beyond its home market.
GetGo operates more than 3,000 vehicles across 1,700 locations, with its mobile application running on a cloud-native, event-driven microservices architecture. As the platform grows, the company needed greater visibility across its distributed environment to identify and resolve issues before they affect customers.
Its previous setup relied on fragmented tools that struggled to keep pace with the complexity of its growing distributed system.
Kirivarnan Kumarasamy, Director of Engineering at GetGo, said, “As a company built on delivering seamless, on-demand mobility, blind spots have a direct impact on user trust and retention.”
GetGo consolidated its observability and security capabilities on Datadog, giving engineering teams a single view across its platform.
According to Kumarasamy, the deployment has reduced bug investigation time by 50–60 percent and cut issue detection and resolution time by 30–40 percent.
The platform's Real User Monitoring (RUM) capability has also given the company greater visibility into how its mobile application performs for customers, allowing engineers to identify issues earlier.
“Every engineering team now relies on it as the backbone of their monitoring, troubleshooting, and reliability operations,” Kumarasamy said.
The unified approach has also reduced the need for engineers to switch between multiple monitoring tools when investigating problems, helping teams connect application behaviour with underlying infrastructure and services.
GetGo said the visibility provided by the platform is helping its teams make decisions around performance optimisation, capacity and future technology investments as the business grows.
“We have moved from reacting to problems to proactively engineering ahead of them. The confidence that comes from having full visibility across our platform will help us scale effectively and expand into new markets,” Kumarasamy said.
The company is also exploring AI and agentic capabilities to support engineering productivity, security and more personalised customer experiences.
