Snowflake appoints Adrian De Luca to lead APJ solution engineering

By iTnews Asia Team on Sep 2, 2026 4:23PM

Snowflake has appointed Adrian De Luca as Vice President, Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) Solution Engineering, bringing more than three decades of enterprise technology experience to the company’s regional AI push.

Based in Melbourne, De Luca will lead Snowflake’s solution engineering teams across APJ, with a remit spanning enterprise data, cloud and AI adoption. His appointment comes as organisations across the region increasingly look to move generative and agentic AI initiatives from experimentation into production.

De Luca joins Snowflake after more than 10 years at AWS, where he most recently served as Director of Cloud Acceleration for Asia Pacific. In that role, he worked with enterprises on cloud transformation and, during the past three years, focused extensively on AI and agentic systems.

His team developed prototypes and applications across use cases including document processing, personalised marketing and motorsports strategy, giving him experience in translating emerging AI capabilities into practical enterprise applications.

De Luca’s career has spanned cloud migration, application modernisation, AI development and developer transformation. Before AWS, he spent almost 15 years at Hitachi Data Systems, eventually becoming its Asia Pacific CTO. He later co-founded fitness marketplace app AirActive.

He has also worked with public-sector and enterprise organisations on cloud security, risk and compliance, including advising the Australian Federal Government on its cloud policy.

At Snowflake, that experience will be brought to bear on the company’s efforts to help enterprises make greater use of data for AI applications.

“Across APJ, I’ve helped many major brands navigate the last seismic shift: AI and cloud adoption. Now I’m looking forward to bringing that experience to Snowflake to help local organisations unlock more value from their data, deliver real business outcomes through agentic AI," he said.

De Luca’s remit will include supporting Snowflake’s implementation and adoption across technologies including Snowpark and Cortex AI, alongside its secure data-sharing capabilities.

The focus reflects a broader challenge for enterprises: moving beyond AI pilots requires the underlying data, architecture and governance to support applications reliably at scale.
