Taoyuan Airport to upgrade network for unified operational services

It will help reduce complexity and cut expenses.

Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport Corporation (TIAC) plans to upgrade its communications infrastructure to ensure reliability and operational efficiency.

It aims to consolidate voice, data, video communications and operational technology services, including check-in kiosks, baggage handling systems, Wi-Fi and CCTV on a single network infrastructure

The move will simplify system management and help reduce complexity and expenses.

The corporation will use Nokia’s IP/MPLS solution.

This will replace and expand the current system in Terminals 1 and 2 to strengthen security and service reliability.

Nokia’s solution includes the 7750 Service Router, 7250 Interconnect Routers and 7210 Service Access System.

Additionally, Nokia’s Network Service Platform will help TIAC automate and simplify operations.

Nokia Asia Pacific's vice president of enterprise sales for network infrastructure, Stuart Hendry, said, Nokia’s IP/MPLS solution will help Taoyuan International Airport improve airport safety and operations while reducing energy consumption.

HwaCom Systems is supporting the project as Nokia’s local implementation and integration partner.

An end-to-end network, service, and security management platform will give TIAC improved visibility into network performance and health, supporting efficient airport operations.

TIAC is the busiest airport in Taiwan, handling almost 45 million passengers in 2024.

To meet the growing passenger and cargo demand, it is developing a third terminal, expected to be operational in 2027.
