And customer service.

Indonesia-based digital financial service company Dana is leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to understand customers better, build new solutions, and drive productivity across the organisation.

It has collaborated with Microsoft to integrate GitHub Copilot into its daily business operations, to increase developer productivity.

Dana's chief technology officer Norman Sasono said generative AI presents boundless opportunities, and the democratisation of AI enables widespread adoption.

"We can now optimise this technology to transform existing data and create entirely new solutions," he added.

Founded in 2018, Dana is a digital wallet registered with Bank Indonesia with four licenses including electronic money, digital wallet, money transfer, and digital financial liquidity

It embarked on a digital transformation journey with a company wide initiative - “AI Everywhere” to expand its reach and impact by integrating AI into its software development lifecycle.

With over 180 million users and 900 employees, the firm wanted to extend AI solutions to its engineers for collaboration and to enhance problem solving capabilities.

Dana said it decided to incorporate GitHub Copilot into daily workflows of almost 300 developers from back-end, front-end, quality assurance and site reliability, enabling them to write code faster.

From real time code suggestions and chat assistance in the integrated development environment (IDE) to breaking down complex coding concepts in natural language, GitHub Copilot empowers developers with AI to increase productivity.

Norman said this integration has yielded tangible benefits and developers have reported an increasing reduction in coding time and efforts to do mundane tasks.

He added that approximately 70 percent of developers have noted an enhanced understanding of both new and legacy code, facilitating a smoother development process.

DANA is also using Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to improve the company’s operations, workforce productivity, and customer service.
