And optimise performance.

Philippines telecommunications company PLDT is modernising its IT infrastructure to improve business agility and respond faster to market dynamics.

In a multi-year collaboration with software company Amdocs, PLDT plans to migrate selected business-critical systems and applications to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The firm aims to drive innovation and deliver enhanced connected customer experience through cloud migration.

PLDT's chief transformation and customer officer Emmanuel C. Lorenzana said moving to the cloud was a key element in the company's overall transformation agenda.

"It will provide agility and speed for innovations... More critically, it will help us deliver the best products and services to our customers," he added.

Amdocs will provide cloud strategy, planning consultancy, and cloud security and operations services, using its new artificial intelligence (AI)-driven cloud operations platform.

Hosted on AWS, the platform will help PLDT to optimise and scale infrastructure performance and resources as needed.

This approach to cloud adoption and management will increase PLDT's operational resilience, Lorenzana said.

In addition, PLDT will also use AWS's breadth and depth of cloud services to build applications and manage infrastructure.

This will allow the telecom company to focus its IT resources on innovating applications that differentiate business and transform customer experiences.

Recently, PLDT Enterprise, the corporate business arm of PLDT has partnered with Ericsson to develop artificial intelligence-enabled solutions and drive digital transformation for various industries in the Philippines.

The partnership will make use of Ericsson’s AI Exchange Platform—a hybrid cloud solution built on a distributed architecture—for exploring new solutions for different industries.
