Singapore’s premier tech industry association, SGTech, will facilitate skills and knowledge exchange within its business networks through a business-to-business (B2B) mentoring programme, launched in collaboration with Enterprise Singapore.
It aims to provide at least 300 mentorships with over 100 mentors from diverse domains including business leadership, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and cloud services.
SGTech has also partnered with AI Singapore in a Large Language Model Application Developer Programme (LADP) to equip the local workforce with knowledge and skills to use LLMs and develop applications.
With priority access given to Techblazer Awards participants, SGTech said these programmes will provide structured on-the-job training to allow mid-career individuals to build digital capabilities.
Further, the association is also actively working to roll out new Career Conversion Programmes along with Workforce Singapore to help individuals enhance their skills in the Generative AI (GenAI) field.
Another initiative, the Sustainability Guided Programme(SGP) will help non-listed small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore to draft full ESG reports in compliance with standards accepted by Singapore and major overseas markets.
As one of the leading start-up hubs in the region, Singapore is home to more than 4,000 tech start-ups, 400 venture capital firms, and 200 incubators and accelerators, SGTech noted.
To continue nurturing this vibrant tech ecosystem, IMDA and SGTech had earlier introduced several initiatives.
The Tech Acceleration Lab (TAL) is one such initiative administered by IMDA.
Companies can demonstrate Proofs-of-Concept (or PoC) for Government projects through short-term access to the Government Commercial Cloud.
During her keynote address at the Techblazer Awards 2023, Singapore's Minister for Communications and Information, Josephine Teo said IMDA will introduce an expanded TAL and make it available for private sector projects through TAL Enterprise.
"PoCs for the private sector face similar challenges as Government PoCs, such as the complex environment setup with enterprise-grade IT security and compliance requirements," the Minister said.
The Minister added that since TAL’s launch in 2021, 46 PoCs have been completed, of which 20 have successfully converted into paid contracts.
