Garudafood modernises data platforms to accelerate business value

Aims to create a unified data foundation that provides real-time visibility across operations and supports faster decision-making.

Indonesian food and beverage manufacturer Garudafood is using Microsoft Fabric to modernise its data platform, creating a unified data foundation that provides real-time visibility across operations and supports faster decision-making.

Garudafood brought together data from BOSNET distribution records, BigQuery analytics data, Mobile Forces field reports, on-premises transactional systems, into a single platform governed by a common set of rules, using Microsoft Fabric.

The platform helped Garudafood with a unified view of operations and supports real-time analysis of operational and IoT data, making insights accessible across the organization.

Microsoft Foundry has also been added for deploying intelligent applications in the future.

Previously, Garudafood's data was spread across on-premises and cloud-based systems, creating data silos that slowed reporting and decision-making. With insights often based on batch-processed data, business teams couldn't respond quickly to changing market conditions, optimize operations, and identify emerging opportunities.

“Real-time visibility across our operations is a game changer for Garudafood. It allows us to make faster, more informed decisions and align our teams around a single, trusted view of the business,” said Johanes Hartanto, IT Director, Garudafood.

According to Hartanto, this approach helped Garudafood track towards measurable business value while improving speed, visibility, and data accessibility across the organization. The company has reduced report cycle times by 50 per cent, cut down on data preparation efforts by 40 percent, and consolidated analytics tools by 50 percent.

The company now claims to have responded more proactively to business challenges, by achieving a 30-50 percent reduction in compliance-related effort, helping teams focus more on decision-making and operational improvements.

“Our collaboration has enabled us to build a strong digital foundation that not only supports today’s needs but also prepares us to scale advanced analytics and AI capabilities in the future and strengthen our position as a data-driven enterprise," added Hartanto.

Looking ahead, Garudafood plans to expand its use of Microsoft Fabric to support advanced analytics initiatives such as sales forecasting and demand planning, while further implementing upskilling and training programs for employees as part of its broader AI strategy.
