Adani Group plans to invest US$100 billion in AI Data Centres

Adani Group plans to invest US$100 billion in AI Data Centres

Will develop AI infrastructure ecosystem, including server manufacturing, electrical systems and sovereign cloud platforms.

The Adani Group has announced a massive US$100 billion (S$126 billion) investment by 2035 to build renewable energy-powered, hyperscale AI-ready data centres in India.

The investment is expected to catalyse an additional US$150 billion across related sectors, creating a total US$250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem, including server manufacturing, electrical systems and sovereign cloud platforms. It also aims to create the world's largest integrated data centre platform, scaling the group's capacity from 2 GW to 5 GW.

These data centres will be powered by carbon-neutral energy from the 30 GW Khavda project, with a further US$55 billion allocated for expanding renewable generation and establishing large-scale battery storage.

Unlike conventional data centre growth driven primarily by IT demand, Adani’s programme links power generation and AI processing capacity from inception. The company said renewable power assets, resilient grid systems and high-density AI processing facilities will be built in parallel, aimed at ensuring scalability and reliability.

The facilities are expected to support large AI clusters and next-generation workloads, incorporating liquid cooling and high-efficiency power architectures. Dedicated compute resources will be allocated for Indian large language models (LLMs) and national data initiatives.

The Group also plans to strengthen global connectivity through cable landing stations integrated with its port network, enabling low-latency access to markets across the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia.

In a bid to reduce exposure to global supply chain volatility, Adani will co-invest in domestic manufacturing of critical components such as transformers, advanced power electronics, grid systems and thermal management technologies.

Supporting India’s AI ecosystem

As part of India’s five-layer AI framework covering applications, models, chips, energy and data centres, the Group intends to participate across the full stack.

A substantial portion of the GPU capacity will be allocated for Indian AI startups and research institutions to help address domestic compute needs, the company said.

"The world is entering an Intelligence Revolution more profound than any previous Industrial Revolution," said Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group. "Nations that master the symmetry between energy and compute will shape the next decade. India is uniquely positioned to lead. At Adani, we are building on our foundation in data centres and green energy to expand into the complete five-layer AI stack focused on India's technological sovereignty."

The strategy builds upon current partnerships with Google and Microsoft. In line with this vision, the Group will also deepen its data centre partnership with Flipkart, advancing the collaboration toward the development of a second AI data centre purpose-built to support Flipkart's next-generation digital commerce, high-performance computing and large-scale AI workloads.
