CRN Australia to transition to independent IT channel platform

CRN Australia to transition to independent IT channel platform

And focus on local industry needs.

By iTnews Asia Team on Feb 14, 2025 1:29PM

After nearly two decades as a cornerstone of the Australian IT channel, CRN Australia has announced that it will transition away from the CRN brand on April 1, 2025, following the expiration of its licence agreement with The Channel Company.

Despite this shift, CRN Australia reassures its readers and partners that the core elements of its platform—including its team, events, and content—will remain unchanged. The editorial team, partnership managers, designers, and project teams will continue their work, ensuring ongoing industry coverage and event execution.

Flagship initiatives including Pipeline, Impact Awards, Fast50, Channel TV, and the MSP Index will continue as scheduled.

Additionally, CRN Australia confirmed that its content archives, Channelwire newsletter, and social media channels will remain under its management.

A new chapter for the Australian IT channel

The publication is set to launch a new independent platform, promising greater flexibility, fresh opportunities, and innovative content tailored to the Australian IT channel. While details are yet to be disclosed, the team sees this as an opportunity to build a platform free from external licensing constraints, with a sharper focus on local industry needs.

“We believe we have been excellent custodians of the CRN brand in Australia, but now it’s time to take the next step and build something even better. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a truly independent and local media platform, dedicated exclusively to the Australian channel,” as per an announcement from CRN Australia.

CRN Australia’s leadership emphasises that the publication’s mission remains unchanged—to support and grow the Australian IT channel through in-depth analysis, industry insights, and events that foster meaningful connections.

Further details about the new platform are expected in the coming months. Readers and industry partners are encouraged to stay engaged for updates on what is being positioned as an exciting evolution for the Australian IT channel media landscape.
