Japan’s Ricoh moves on-premise workloads to cloud

Consolidates global operations data.

By Kumar Gandharv on Sep 16, 2024 2:34AM

Japanese imaging and electronics company Ricoh has moved its on-premises workloads to the cloud and established a centralised data processing and analysis system.

This will support the company’s GLIDER data infrastructure project.

Under the project, the plan is to consolidate raw data from sales, inventory, and operations, from Ricoh Group operating over 50 companies.

The company has transitioned from Informatica’s PowerCenter environment to the cloud-native Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) platform.

This allows it to fully reuse the existing PowerCenter assets in the cloud, saving on migration costs, time, and effort.

Additionally, it will reduce the man-hours and time required to process and analyse data.

Ricoh’s deputy general manager of process, IT, and data management, Yoshinobu Hamanaka, said the company has modernised Informatica PowerCenter solution to an AI-powered, cloud-native Informatica’s IDMC.

IDMC offers an easy-to-use user interface, a low-code/no-code environment, and the scalability and flexibility to adapt to changing business environments.

It lessens users’ daily workloads and improves productivity and operational efficiency, ensuring continuous innovation and service improvement for a better digital workflow experience, Hamanaka added.

With centralised data management, users can access data related to customer information, respond quickly to customer needs, and offer customised service delivery.

The users can manage and process data efficiently and flexibly, and increase the speed and efficiency of operations.
