Singapore data centre provider Princeton Digital Group (PDG) has completed the first phase of its 96 MW data centre campus in Tokyo, Japan.

The first phase of the TY1 campus is a six-storey, 48 MW facility.

It is scheduled to be ready for service in Q4 2024.

According to Lendlease, the main developer of the project, the facility has been designed to serve high-density rack deployments for the high infrastructure demands of AI and cloud companies.

PDG’s campus in Japan will also include the construction of a second building.

PDG’s CEO and co-founder, Rangu Salgame, said Saitama offers stability and scalability in land and power and connectivity to central Tokyo, creating new opportunities for data centre expansion.

The campus – TY1 - at Saitama City is one of the major commercial centres of the Greater Tokyo area with a total land area of 33,047 sqm.

In July 2021, PDG announced the plan to invest US$1 billion (S$1.35 billion) for its first data centre in Japan.

TY1 is the first project delivered under the Lendlease Data Centre Partners fund.
