Data centre service providers in Thailand have established the Thailand Data Centre Council (TDCC) to boost the country's digital infrastructure and represent the collective interests of the data centre industry in formulating policies and regulations.
The council aims to work with governmental and private entities to advocate ethical business practices in line with international norms. It seeks to establish a network of digital infrastructure service providers in Thailand.
The founding members of the TDCC include AIMS Data Centre, Evolution DC, NTT Global Data Centres Limited, STT GDC and Telehouse.
The council and the members will provide feedback, identify challenges, and propose solutions relevant to the industry.
It will also undertake additional activities to execute tasks assigned by applicable public-sector agencies.
The members expect the collaboration to actively promote the development of professional skills for entrepreneurs and industry personnel.
Thailand is an appealing destination for investments from global digital service providers and data centre operators due to its favourable geographical location and supportive digital policies from the government.
Statista predicts that Thailand’s data centre market revenue will increase from US$2.06 billion (S$2.76 billion) in 2023 to an impressive US$2.83 billion (S$3.79 billion) within five years, establishing the sector as a critical industry for the country.
TDCC said it is currently open to a diverse alliance of parties, whether from data centres, connectivity providers, or related fields and is committed to assisting its members in expanding their business potential.
