Will cost 200 million euro and create more than 400 jobs.

German engineering and technology group, Siemens has announced a new high-tech factory in Singapore, to serve Southeast Asian markets.

The company will invest 200 million euro (S$293 million) in the factory, which will create more than 400 jobs, Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) said on LinkedIn.

It will incorporate high levels of automation and digitalisation, adopting intelligent energy and smart building technologies, and will be carbon neutral by 2030, it added.

EDB’s chairman, Png Cheong Boon, said Siemens’ new high-tech factory will leverage Singapore's trusted hub status and strong advanced manufacturing capabilities to meet rising demand across Southeast Asia’s high-growth markets.

Siemens’ collaborations with the local ecosystem will better serve customers in the region through the use of new digital and automation technologies, he added.

The investment in Singapore will create jobs in advanced manufacturing, supply chain management, quality management, and finance, Siemens said.

The company also plans to expand its digital factory with an investment of over 140 million euros in Chengdu city of China.

The investments are part of a 2 billion euro global investment plan that the German technology giant announced on Thursday to build new manufacturing capacity as well as innovation labs, education centres and manufacturing facilities around the world.
