To support startups and established companies.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has launched a Joint Innovation Centre (JIC) with Amazon Web Services (AWS) which will be housed within IMDA’s Innovation Hub, Pixel.

Pixel is one of the leading launch pads in the region and supports the growth of promising start-ups under IMDA Accreditation and IMDA Spark programmes.

The JIC will cater to the needs of Southeast Asia and is equipped with specialised labs including AR/VR, 5G, and useability testing facilities, IMDA said.

It will serve as a digital innovation hub for enterprises, startups, and governments to create and scale innovative solutions.

Startups and established companies joining the JIC will gain access to more than 200 featured AWS services for experimentation and project-based consultations, IMDA said.

As part of the deal, the companies can use both IMDA and AWS networks for six months.

The centre will use IMDA's Open Innovation Platform (OIP) to match real-world business challenges with tech solutions.

IMDA's assistant chief executive for media Justin Ang said that JIC will help nurture Singapore’s burgeoning tech space, and promote cloud technology across industries.

"We look forward to bringing AWS’s resources and networks to our Singapore-based companies under our IMDA Accreditation and IMDA Spark programmes to further accelerate their growth,” he added.

IMDA has also appointed 18 professionals from 16 companies as SG Digital Leaders under the SG Digital Leadership Accelerator to build a strong community of Singaporean digital leaders for the tech ecosystem.
