SGTech signs MoU with Swiss tech industry associations

To promote digital trust, build linkages.

By Kumar Gandharv on Mar 2, 2023 12:03PM

Singapore’s tech industry association, SGTech, has signed a memorandum of understanding MoU with digitalswitzerland and the Swiss Digital Initiative (SDI) - two of Switzerland's leading tech industry associations.

The MoU seeks to strengthen the connection between the technology industries of the two countries, promote dialogue, and accelerate impactful tech initiatives between the parties, particularly in the area of Digital Trust.

The signing ceremony was held at Enterprise Singapore's office.

The associations have agreed to pursue a partnership under the three thematic areas of connection, knowledge exchange and trust.

SGTech said the aim was to promote mutually beneficial bilateral connections by facilitating industry-to-industry partnerships between tech ecosystems of the two countries, through reciprocal invitations to the relevant government-to-business (G2B) and business-to-business (B2B) engagements and public events, such as digitalswitzerland’s annual #herHACK female-led hackathon events and SGTech’s annual Global Future Series conference.

SGTech’ Executive Director, Yean Cheong, said the MoU was an example of shared commitment towards driving digital transformation with trust at the heart of it.

“SGTech and our more than 1,000 member companies look forward to strengthening our partnership and working together to create a meaningful, beneficial impact on the digital economies of both Singapore and Switzerland,” Cheong said.

Digital trust label

SGTech will collaborate with SDI to explore the possibility of extending and applying SDI's Digital Trust Label in Singapore and Asia Pacific markets.

The two associations will work together to help Singapore enterprises adopt the label in the near future, SGTech said.

digitalswitzerland Managing Director, Stefan Metzger, said the plan was to “establish closer connections” and foster greater knowledge exchange between countries' digital ecosystems.

Swiss Digital Initiative Managing Director, Fathi Derder, said the close collaboration will contribute to a secure and ethical digital world by jointly promoting the Digital Trust Label in Europe and Asia.

Putting together SDI and SGTech synergies was the first step towards a global movement for digital trust, he added.
