StarHub taps Google to boost service delivery to enterprise customers

StarHub taps Google to boost service delivery to enterprise customers

Will pilot a 5G cloud-native network within a hybrid cloud.

By Kumar Gandharv on Feb 28, 2023 3:20PM

StarHub has announced a collaboration with Google Cloud, at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 in Barcelona, to further strengthen its Cloud Infinity initiative.

Cloud Infinity aims to boost service delivery, scalability, and performance while reducing operational costs.

StarHub will pilot Google’s Distributed Cloud Edge (GDC Edge) with Nokia 5G Standalone Core to bring 5G cloud-native network functions to a hybrid cloud that will support connectivity in the manufacturing, retail, hospitality, and transportation industries.

The telco said GDC Edge will help it to run its core network functions at the network edge, near its customers.

StarHub’s chief technology officer, Ayush Sharma, said the collaboration will “improve the experience for subscribers and help industry leaders reimagine businesses for the future”.

The telco will also explore Google Cloud’s data management, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) tools for its network operations to enhance the customer experience.

StarHub’s technical teams will get support from Google Cloud and Nokia through extensive upskilling and certifications on cloud-native architecture, principles, and practices, the company said.

This will help bring differentiated cloud-managed services to market, it added.

Google Cloud’s Go-to-Market President, Adaire Fox-Martin, said that, combined with Google Cloud’s global scale and the capabilities of data analytics, AI, and ML technologies, StarHub’s next-generation network is “built for faster innovation, efficiency, and scale for the benefit of enterprise customers”.
