Singapore-based data centre company, Digital Edge Holdings (Digital Edge), has announced its first 10 MW data centre named NARRA1 in Manila, the Philippines.

The data centre is located in Manila’s Binan Laguna area, near the central business district, will be ready for service from March next year.

NARRA1 is a joint venture between Digital Edge and the Threadborne Group, a local family office focused on technology and real estate.

The company said the new data centre will have 2,200 cabinets and has been designed to meet the requirements of cloud, network, digital media, and enterprise customers in terms of power specifications, reliability, security and sustainability.

Digital Edge’s Chief Executive Officer, Samuel Lee, said that the completion of NARRA1 was a landmark moment in the creation of the company’s regional platform across Asia.

“As we come online in the Philippines for the first time with this state-of-the-art facility, we further enhance our presence in South East Asia and progress in our mission to bridge the digital divide by building the essential, sustainable digital ecosystems of the future,” Lee added.

Structure Research estimates that the Philippines data centre colocation market, will be worth US$134 million (S$181 million) this year and it will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25 percent through 2027.

Digital Edge said it had already received bookings for the data centre, including from multiple major domestic internet service providers.

The new facility will be energy and water-efficient with a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of less than 1.2 and a WUE (Water Usage Effectiveness) of 1.355 at optimal operating temperature, the company said.

The facility will also be triple certified with LEED Gold, BERDE, and EDGE certifications (green building certification systems).
