Hyperscale data centre provider, Vantage Data Centers, said in a statement on Tuesday that it had delivered “on schedule” its second Malaysian data centre, KUL 12.

KUL 12 is built on the company’s Cyberjaya campus in Kuala Lumpur.

Located on a four-acre plot in the Malaysia Digital Districts, KUL 12 is a four-story data centre with various sustainability features, including a closed-loop chilling system that requires virtually no external water for cooling.

The company said KUL 12, along with its existing KUL 11 facility; provides the company with a combined “10MW of IT capacity” across 194,000 square feet of space.

Vantage's Asia Pacific business president, Brian Groen, said he was “excited to open the doors” to this new facility while continuing expansion and investment in the greater Kuala Lumpur.

Goren said the company was in the process of constructing its third data centre, KUL 13, also on the Cyberjaya campus.

KU 13 facility will offer an “additional 5MW capacity” to hyperscale customers and local enterprises and will “open its doors” to customers in the first half of 2023”, Goren said.

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) CEO, Mahadhir Aziz, said Vantage's new data centre would strengthen “Malaysia's digital infrastructure” and accelerate the nation's ongoing “digital transformation.”

Vantage entered the Asia Pacific region in 2021 through the acquisition of the data centre assets of Agile Data Centers and the data centre portfolio of PCCW Ltd.

The two acquisitions gave the company both greenfield hyperscale campuses and acquired assets totalling 268MW of existing and expansion critical IT capacity across Tokyo, Osaka, Melbourne, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.
