ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has announced that its latest data centre facility in Singapore, STT Defu 3 is now operational.

Defu 3 is the latest addition to the company’s flagship data centre facility in Defu. The company has eight data centres in Singapore for a combined IT load factor of more than 100 MW.

STT GDC’s CEO for Southeast Asia, Lionel Yeo, told iTnews Asia that the new facility offers customers the ability to “expand seamlessly and tap the connectivity that they currently enjoy without having to set up in a separate location”.

“Built for a sustainable digital future, we continue to push the boundaries to deliver uncompromising performance at energy efficient levels,” Yeo said.

With the new addition the combined gross floor area of the Defu data centre campus is now over 450,000 square feet and its total IT load is more than 40 MW, accounting for around 40 percent of the company's total capacity in Singapore.

In a recent post on LinkedIn, STT GDC said Defu 3 was built to “maximise the advantages of seamless connectivity on-campus, centralised monitoring, and pathways for easy access throughout the campus”.

Fan walls in the data halls are a distinctive feature which greatly improves cooling flexibility and efficiency, it added.

The hyperscale data centre has also been designed to meet the highest sustainability benchmark of BCA-IMDA Green Mark Platinum and LEED v4.

Singapore-based STT GDC is present in more than 20 business markets across nine geographies with more than 170 data centres that have a combined IT space of 10 million square feet accounting for an IT load factor of 2.2 GW.
