Lotte Mart shifts Oracle support model

Lotte Mart shifts Oracle support model

Puts savings towards technology transformation.

Lotte Mart, a South Korean hypermarket chain, has switched its Oracle application maintenance support to third-party player Rimini Street.

The retail operator is said to have wanted to “focus resources on strategic projects related to business growth”, leading it to shift the way it supported its enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform.

It uses a “customised mass-scale Oracle database to manage its retail stores, distribution and logistics”, Rimini Street said, maintenance of which “absorbed [a] significant portion of the IT budget.”

Lotte Mart system strategy department leader Jung-soo Pyo said in a statement that the company had “been able to break free from vendor-oriented service policies and focus on business-oriented services”.

“Work efficiency of IT services has been maximized with a swifter response and support to issues when requested,” Pyo said.

Savings are being pushed back into transformation efforts.

In addition, Lotte Mart is said to be “reviewing plans to adopt Rimini Street to support additional areas of the business and is contemplating its adoption across the entire Lotte Group.”
