South Korea is number one in the world in 5G download speeds, says mobile analytics firm Open Signal.
In a recent report entitled Benchmarking the global 5G experience, Korea's average 5G download speed of 354.4 Mbps was deemed the world's fastest.
Trailing Korea in the category were the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with 292.2 Mbps, Taiwan 272.2, Saudi Arabia 264.7 and Australia 250.5.
Korea also had the second-fastest 5G peak download speed with 764.6 Mbps after Saudi Arabia with 862.6. Switzerland (723.0), the UAE (700.5) and Taiwan (654.4) rounded out the top five.
The Netherlands was tops in 5G upload speed with 32.5 Mbps, with Korea and Taiwan tying for second with 26.4.
Korea ranked No. 1 in 5G voice app experience with 84.8 points, with Ireland second with 84.6.
Open Signal said the download speed experience in 20 countries that have launched 5G ranges rose by 24.9%, while that in countries that in the first quarter of 2020 had yet to launch 5G, or have only just done so, rose only slightly less, with an increase of 23.9%.
While 5G users can experience much higher speeds they still make up a small proportion of users. However, 5G countries performed better in absolute terms, with their users observing an increase of 6.4 Mbps versus the 1.9 Mbps increase seen on average in non-5G countries.
