Garuda Indonesia is modernising its core enterprise systems to strengthen operational efficiency, improve agility, and support long-term growth.
The Indonesian national carrier said the move marks a significant milestone in its broader digital transformation strategy as it works to adapt to changing market conditions and evolving passenger expectations.
Under the initiative, Garuda Indonesia will migrate to SAP Cloud ERP Private through the RISE with SAP framework, integrating previously fragmented systems across finance, procurement, supply chain, and selected customer-related operations.
The airline said the modernised digital core is expected to improve visibility into operational performance, streamline business workflows, and enhance enterprise-wide decision-making through embedded analytics and automation capabilities.
Thomas Oentoro, Deputy CEO of Garuda Indonesia, said the collaboration is aimed at strengthening the airline’s business processes through technology modernisation.
“By modernising our enterprise core, we are building a more connected, agile, and disciplined organisation, better equipped to manage costs and respond to a dynamic operating environment,” he added.
The transformation includes the deployment of SAP Fiori-based digital experiences, enabling role-based access and more intuitive workflows for employees across the organisation.
Garuda Indonesia said the platform is being deployed within a private managed cloud environment, designed to provide greater scalability, resilience, and security while reducing system complexity and simplifying IT operations.
Supporting operational efficiency and future automation
According to SAP Indonesia, the aviation industry is facing increasing operational complexity alongside rising customer expectations, making digital modernisation increasingly critical for airlines.
Sianto Wongjoyo, Managing Director of SAP Indonesia, said the deployment would help Garuda Indonesia establish a stronger operational foundation while paving the way for future AI-driven automation initiatives.
He added that the transformation could help the airline move towards a more autonomous enterprise model, where AI-enabled automation supports adaptive operations and improves responsiveness to market demand.
Beyond back-office modernisation, the transformation is also expected to support Garuda Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to improve fleet readiness and scale operational capacity.
The airline said the new digital infrastructure will help enhance maintenance and asset management processes as it continues restoring operational performance and expanding services.
