Orders, shipments and customer support affected as the company investigates.

Russia-based ransomware-as-a-service group Qilin has claimed responsibility for a data breach at the Japanese beverage holding company Asahi Group.

This has forced the Japanese manufacturer to suspend orders, shipments, and customer service.

Qilin listed Asahi on its data leak site, claiming it stole 27 GB of files, as reported by consumer website Comparitech.

It includes financial documents, contracts, employee information, and internal planning reports.

The ransomware group has not disclosed whether it intends to demand a ransom publicly.

Asahi has yet to verify the claim.

The attack follows Asahi’s initial disclosure of a breach at the end of September 2025, when the company acknowledged unauthorised access to its systems.

Affected operations include order placement, product shipment, and email communications with external parties, according to Asahi’s latest update.

According to Comparitech, Qilin has taken credit for 105 confirmed attacks, including breaches at Shinko Plastics, Nissan Creative Box, and Osaki Medical. Manufacturers, like Asahi, remain frequent targets.
