DHL Express has elevated Karen Tan as chief information officer (CIO) for Asia Pacific (excluding China), effective September 1, 2025.
Based in Singapore, Tan takes over from Jimmy Yeoh, who will retire at the end of the year.
Tan will oversee IT infrastructure, digital acceleration, and cybersecurity strategy across over 40 countries and territories in the region.
Her mandate includes cross-functional collaboration to support seamless cross-border trade and customer service.
Tan said that as digital ecosystems grow more complex, the challenges around cybersecurity and data protection continue to be critical.
It is essential to uphold the standards and quality of employee and customer experience, she added.
Tan has been with DHL Express since 1990, and most recently served as the CIO for DHL Express Singapore.
In that role, she developed a nationwide digitalisation framework, strengthened data protection and information security practices.
She also served as Data Protection Officer (DPO) Champion and led Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) initiatives such as International Women’s Day and Generations Day.
DHL Express CEO for Asia Pacific, Ken Lee, said Tan’s track record in digital acceleration, data protection, and cross-functional collaboration makes her the ideal leader to take the Asia Pacific IT function to the next level.
Her appointment comes as DHL Express reinforces its Strategy 2030 focus on digital innovation, agility, and resilience to meet the growing demands of global trade.
