IMDA launches new digital solutions for retail and security SMEs

IMDA launches new digital solutions for retail and security SMEs

Pilot to run for one year.

By Kumar Gandharv on Jul 18, 2024 11:52AM

Singapore's Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has introduced two new solution categories - Omnichannel Retail Management (OCRM) and Integrated Security Management (ISM) - under the Advanced Digital Solutions (ADS) scheme.

It aims to enhance the digital capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the retail and security sectors.

The pilot will run for one year and equip 100 SMEs with digital solutions.

OCRM solutions integrate customer engagement touchpoints, including physical retail outlets, e-marketplaces, and online channels, with back-end functions including inventory management and customer relationship management.

This integration facilitates the flow of information across operations, enabling advanced data analytics and insights.

This ensures informed decision-making and personalised customer experience.

The OCRM solution category is launched by IMDA with Enterprise Singapore.

EnterpriseSG’s assistant managing director of services and growth enterprises, Jeannie Lim, said how consumers shop and engage with brands has evolved, with consumers expecting hyper-personalisation and smooth transition between various customer touchpoints.

The support for OCRM solutions will help retailers navigate these demands and streamline operations by providing a consolidated view, she added.

AI enabled ISM Solutions

The ISM (Integrated Security Management) solution aims to enhance the operational capabilities of small and medium-sized security agencies.

It is introduced by the IMDA and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

This initiative promotes integrated facility management by coordinating security services with other functions for an efficient approach and explores Outcome Based Contract models focusing on specific outcomes.

The platform utilises AI technologies including computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning, enabling security agencies to offer value-added services and extend beyond traditional guarding.

It integrates with other systems to provide comprehensive management insights via a dashboard and facilitates real-time monitoring, control, and incident response through an operational dashboard.

With the adoption of ISM solutions, security agencies can elevate capabilities and extend service offerings beyond security services.

This will result in enhanced services for clients and potential cost efficiencies.

MHA’s director of security policy directorate, Joint Ops Group, Harris Rusdi Chai, said there has been growing interest by the security industry to move towards a streamlined and integrated model of operations.

The ISM provides a ready solution to do so.

This will also boost ongoing industry transformation efforts to adopt advanced technology to enhance productivity and security outcomes, Chai said.

Both OCRM and ISM solutions will be assessed for suitability for SMEs’ adoption before they are scaled up through relevant support such as the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG).
