Marvell Technology is planning to establish an integrated circuit (IC) design centre in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

According to Marvell, the site will be home to advanced semiconductor engineering.

Marvell Vietnam’s general director, Le Quang Dam, told VietnamPlus the company is operating 20 research and development centres centres worldwide.

With the launching of the centre in Vietnam, Marvell Vietnam will be one of the four world-standard R&D centres, along with those in the US, India and Israel.

Marvell’s optical and copper connectivity group executive vice president, Loi Nguyen, a native of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the establishment of Marvell’s design centre in Vietnam is a significant step towards bridging the talent gap and fostering the local semiconductor industry.

The company is committed to attracting engineering talent to its semiconductor design centre in Vietnam, and growing high-value semiconductor jobs, careers, and ecosystems in the country, he added.

Further, Marvell plans to invest in developing essential technology skills in the region through a newly established program that will support students pursuing degrees in engineering and computer science at selected universities in Vietnam.
