Malaysia Airlines has signed a five-year deal with the Indian software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions provider IBS Software to upgrade its crew management solutions.

The airline already has an ongoing relationship with IBS Software.

Under the new deal, the airline will migrate its crew management systems to IBS Software’s cloud-based platform, iFlight Crew.

A company spokesperson said the "highly" scalable software uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to provide real-time situational awareness, which helps Malaysian Airlines optimise the utilisation of its assets for a competitive advantage.

iFlight Crew analyses various factors and scenarios to provide optimal crew pairing and rostering solutions.

Malaysian Airlines said it is now able to maximise productivity, control costs, and adhere to industry standards and regulations. The solution's latest technology enables self-service tools that are flexible and accessible for airline crew.

Additionally, with solutions including iFlight Crew Tracking, Manpower Planning, AD OPT Pairing (altitude pairing) and Rostering Optimiser, there has been an improvement in flight operations, the airline said.

These functions improve employee productivity in automating situational awareness and decision-making and facilitate seamless data flow between ops and crew tracking functions, to significantly improve disruption recovery, the airlines added.
