Singapore’s largest car-sharing service platform GetGo has partnered with end-to-end identity proofing, risk assessment and eKYC/AML compliance solutions provider Jumio and Singapore government’s tech agency GovTech to easily verify the digital identities of new GetGo customers.

Founded in August 2020, GetGo has over 1,700 vehicles serving a community of more than 200,000 users with thousands of bookings each day. It uses Jumio’s biometrics and artificial intelligence (AI) based technologies to quickly and automatically verify new customers.

GetGo uses a comprehensive identity verification solution from Jumio that accepts and reliably verifies more than 5,000 ID sub-types from across the globe, including many with a non-Latin script, enabling them to scale their onboarding process throughout the Asia Pacific region and beyond.

The company said it is now able to protect its fleet of vehicles against theft.

The Identity Verification tool ensures that the person creating a new GetGo account or requesting a new vehicle is who they claim to be.

GetGo’s Group Product Lead Alex Ang said Jumio's facial verification technology has helped the company to simultaneously raise trust and safety standards while enhancing its customer onboarding experience.

By requesting a valid government-issued ID and a selfie, Jumio provides a valuable fraud prevention tool, as fraudsters generally prefer not to use their own likeness when trying to scam GetGo, Ang said.

“We look forward to a long-term partnership with Jumio to bring a reliable and frictionless verification experience to the masses,” Ang added.

GetGo said they could also improve the security of users' accounts and deter errant users from misusing their service.
