ASUS hits 9 GHz with 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900K CPU

Overclocking record claimed.

Intel hardware partner ASUS has claimed the world CPU overclocking crown by running a 13th Gen Core i9-13900K part at 9.008 Giga Hertz, cooling the part with liquid helium at 269 degrees below zero.

Techies from the Taiwanese hardware giant used an ASUS Republic of Gaming Maximus Z790 APEX motherboard which is specifically designed for overclocking, with an enhanced power delivery system.

The 24-core Intel Core i9 "Raptor Lake" i9-13000K processor has in standard configuration a maximum turbo speed of up to 5.8 GHz.

Pushing the part to over 9 GHz is a new overclocking world record, ASUS and Intel claimed.

ASUS and Intel said the overclocking team also set new records with the PIFAST and SUPERPI 1M benchmarks that calculate the Pi constant, timing them at 6.85 and 3.822 seconds respectively.
