Vietnam’s brokerage firm HSC moves to hybrid cloud environment

Vietnam’s brokerage firm HSC moves to hybrid cloud environment

By migrating key applications to Google Cloud infrastructure.

Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corporation (HSC), one of Vietnam’s leading securities brokerage firms and investment bank, has partnered with Hanoi-based IT services provider Gimasys to modernise its digital infrastructure, as a part of its digital transformation initiative.

According to HSC, the move falls under Phase 1 of its technology infrastructure modernisation roadmap, and after a successful proof of concept (PoC), it has chosen Google Cloud as its primary cloud provider.

HSC will migrate its key applications to a hybrid cloud environment using Anthos, Google Cloud’s managed platform for application deployment,

This will enable HSC to define, automate, and enforce “consistent security policies” across the cloud to ensure corporate governance and compliance requirements.

HSC will use Google Cloud’s Kubernetes Engine (GKE) to develop applications.

An HSC spokesperson said a serverless platform like GKE would enable the company to develop new applications at a much faster rate and with greater cost efficiency.

As a result, instead of spending excessive time on complex, manual backend IT configurations, the engineering team would be able to focus on developing products and services to serve HSC’s individual, institutional, and corporate customers.

HSC’s Director of IT, Doan Chi Trung, said Google Cloud and Gimasys will help advance infrastructure modernisation projects and help HSC adopt better cloud computing technologies.

“This shift to the cloud will help elevate the user experience, strengthen security, optimise costs, and lay a robust foundation for applying other advanced technologies to unlock significant business value,” he added.

Gimasys along with Google Cloud will “upskill” HSC’s engineering team via “certification programmes” to manage large-scale cloud deployments.

Google Cloud’s Southeast Asia Managing Director, Ruma Balasubramanian said HSC, by running on Google Cloud with support from Gimasys, will be able to “rapidly launch new services for its customers and unlock fresh possibilities in areas like fraud prevention, machine learning, data analytics, corporate account management, and more”.
