Malaysian trading conglomerate Sime Darby Berhad (Sime) has implemented Workday in an initial six countries as part of a transformation of its human resources function.

Sime signed on to Workday in September last year and now has the software operating in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, South Korea, Japan, and Maldives.

The software is still to be rolled out "progessively" to another 13 countries where Sime has regional operations.

Under the broader transformation, Sime intends to "streamline and simplify over 100 processes and systems" relied on by approximately 22,000 employees across Asia Pacific.

For employees in countries where Workday is live, it is possible to "access multiple HR systems and functions" through the software, "including leave applications, payslips and online learning".

Managers in these geographies are receiving "real-time data analytics to make smarter, more informed decisions regarding talent management," according to a statement from Workday.

Sime expects the transformation project to be completed by mid 2023 as part of its regional growth strategy.

It plans to further use analytics to actively involve employees in achieving organisational goals.
