VMware has opened a new regional digital innovation hub in Singapore, which joiuns nine other similar centres in locations such as Bangalore, Beijing, Tokyo, and Sydney in the Asia Pacific.
VMware’s VP and MD for Southeast Asia and Korea Paul Simos said the innovation hub would bolster SEA’s growth as a “burgeoning, vibrant technological hub”.
“With the Asean region on track to become a US$1 trillion digital economy by 2030 and the region’s emergence as an innovation powerhouse, we are committed to accelerating businesses to the future by helping them visualise and implement their digital roadmaps,” Simos said.
He said the hub is equipped with tools like digital white-boarding, virtual reality and a personalised experience utilising radio-frequency identification (RFID).
He said the hub would allow businesses to connect with technical experts and teams from anywhere in the world to “unpack technical constraints and design customised technology roadmaps”.
“This will enable business leaders to test current technologies, concepts, and pilot projects before official rollouts, serving as a secure innovation sandbox to build new innovative concepts and transformation roadmaps,” Simon said.
Speaking at the launch, Alvin Tan, Singapore’s Minister of State, said surveys showed businesses that invested in the cloud saw experienced higher revenue and data security and could recover more quickly during emergencies.
“It is thus no surprise that global spending on cloud computing is projected to exceed US$480 billion this year,” Mr Tan, who is attached to the Ministries of Culture, Community and Youth, and Ministry of Trade and Industry, said.
