In a boost to India’s tech workforce, Atos will recruit about 15,000 people in India over the next 12 months, adding to its existing workforce of 40,000 in the country.

“We are experiencing a productivity shock, like what we experienced 20 years ago, thanks to the acceleration of digitisation, and India is at the heart of it,” said Atos CEO Elie Girard, in an interview with the Economic Times in India.
Girard said there has been a demand boom across sectors, including public sector and defence, which would benefit employment with India being the leading provider of those skills globally.
Atos is also collaborating with the Indian government on the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), in terms of providing support for assembling and testing of high-performance computers.
India a key market for Atos
At present, almost one-third of Atos’ revenues are driven out of India, Girard said.
“A lot of our product development in cyber security is happening in India. We’ve invested in assembly lines on supercomputing and on 5G edge and are working to… make sure we can integrate those two technologies together to build new services,” Girard said.
Last year, Atos acquired Ai-driven managed detection and response provider Paladion, which already had a presence in India.
Earlier this year, Atos provided the digital solutions for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games, across programme and operations management, as well as the development and hosting of critical applications to digital integration.
