Two-thirds of Singaporean office workers feel they are doing the same tasks repeatedly, such as inputting data, creating datasets and scheduling meetings, with 71% of respondents wishing parts of their job can be automated, a survey by enterprise automation software company UiPath revealed.
According to UiPath’s 2021 Office Worker Survey, Faced with too many time-consuming tasks to complete, 59% of office workers around the world, and 57% of office workers in Singapore, believe they cannot efficiently help customers. When asked the top tasks they would like to automate, Singapore workers said:
- Emails (50%)
- Inputting data/creating datasets (63%)
- Scheduling calls and meetings (54%)
The UiPath survey assessed the views of office workers working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic about how their roles have changed over the past year and how they see their roles evolving in the future.
“It’s no surprise that employees are looking for ways to feel more engaged at work. Automation unlocks workers’ productivity, and, more importantly, frees them to focus on meaningful work that is creative, collaborative, and strategic,” said Tom Clancy, Senior Vice President of Learning, UiPath.
“It’s critical that companies provide training for and access to automation and other digital technologies to create more fulfilled and energised employees.”
Among the findings, Singapore employees believe their employers should offer training on digital technologies: 86% want their employers to invest in tech skills training and 82% would be more willing to work in a company that offered such training opportunities. A high number or 77% feel that obtaining skills in AI will help further their career.
Designed to uncover how skills training opportunities factored into employees’ attitudes towards their jobs—including which skills office workers most wanted to advance their career—the 2021 Office Worker Survey polled 4,500 office workers across the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, India, and Singapore and was conducted in March 2021.
