Naver sets up AI research facility in Vietnam

Naver’s goal is to link AI research centres across Vietnam with the rest of the world.

Korea’s Internet provider Naver has established an AI research centre in Vietnam as part of its global network expansion.

The South Korean engineering company opened the research centre in partnership with Vietnam’s Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST).

With the AI research centre on the HUST campus, Naver aims to Vietnam improve its nationwide digital transformation.

The centre would accommodate basic studies involving Vietnam’s technologies, supporting extensive AI applications to multiple industries.

Naver engineers would also work with the local IT community to develop various technologies, including autonomous driving systems, deep learning modelling, and robotics.

Additionally, Naver would offer multiple projects such as AI-related training programs, scholarships and internships, and exclusive lectures from Naver researchers.

Naver’s goal is to link AI research centres across Vietnam and to strengthen connections with other major global AI centres.

Huing Quet Tang, President of HUST, said: “We will make efforts to apply new technologies centred on AI in various fields to accelerate the 4th industrial revolution in Vietnam.”

Naver’s global AI research footprint involves technology centres and networks throughout France, Vietnam, Japan, and South Korea.
