The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) will be establishing “living labs” with Oracle and Salesforce to augment the industry-focused curriculum.
SIT’s Living Labs (LL) Initiative leverages SIT’s Punggol Campus and allows SIT, industry and government stakeholders to jointly develop, test and deploy research ideas, thereby keeping attuned to industry trends.
According to the university, the SIT-Oracle Living Lab will feature a digital ‘sandbox’ platform that enables students, researchers and industry partners to collaborate on business solutions and innovation.
It will leverage Oracle’s expertise and technologies such as database management and cloud computing, it added.
Oracle Singapore’s managing director, Chua Horng Shya, said SIT will leverage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for the first of such digital sandboxes, and Oracle Academy training offerings.
With Oracle Academy's learning resources in artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics, SIT will support faculty and students in applied learning and research.
Similarly, the SIT-Salesforce learning lab will train up to 50 students per academic year to develop applications and prototypes to benefit social service agencies.
Salesforce’s senior VP and GM, ASEAN, Sujith Abraham, said by developing solutions for real-world problems social service agencies are facing, this partnership will help non-profits transform digitally and deliver greater impact to their beneficiaries.
